James Pyke One of the things I am especially appreciating about this is how in many of the tracks there's a sense of one cohesive set of primary elements rolling along in parallel with another secondary set that sometimes pierces through or takes over the track. It's as if there is a generative tension within the tracks that propels them along to genuinely surprising (and also engagingly "groovy") places.
Fascinating and even (dare I say) groundbreaking work! Favorite track: Ghosts Before Breakfast.

Junkmale23 (Grant) Mesmerizingly mind-blowing album. Ethereal explorations of electronic experimentations. Angelically (applied) ambient primordial pleasures of past pulsers phuture projected!
This is Aural Ambien 💯
(RIP John Everall) Favorite track: Children of Mad Mothers.

about

These recordings were originally created in 2013/14 by Robert E Baker (The Anti Group/Clockdva/Shadowranglers) and John Everall (Sentrax Corporation label/Tactile).

The premise of these recordings were based on an idea first attempted by Baker with help from Mark Fell on the Lovebytes CD release Digital Spaces, entitled Ngoma (Hidden Patterns) www.discogs.com/release/880654-Various-Digital-Space
This process sought to transform field recordings of primordial rythm patterns into contemporary electronic sounds. Using only the rawest of information, reduced to a code with beats and accents inspired John to come up with the name PLSRs (or Pulsers). Once we had this raw data we applied it to both modular and digital processes, the pieces virtually created themselves with little intervention, we saw our role more as technicians than musicians.

Sadly John was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in the summer of 2014. He passed away in September 2014, just as we had finished mix-downs.
Shortly before his untimely passing, we experimented with applying the conceptual techniques used on these tracks towards a live presentation of pLsRs. This was conceived, set up and recorded over two days, at Jons Lev Lab Studio in summer of 2014. The results of these tentative live experiments we felt were worth including in this release, and appear here as the last two tracks, 10 and 11, in this collection.

After several offers of vinyl pressings which never came to fruition, the tracks lay dormant until Feb 2022 when we decided to self-release, with mastering from Gregg Hermetech.

( Any offers for a Vinyl release please mail us).

So here we have a transmission from the primordial past reaching out to the future.

All profits after cost will be donated to applicable charities (Mental Health/Cancer/Haitian Relief)

Future PLSRs projects are in the pipeline following two live performances in Manchester with Baker and Dave o'Wark.
